Simple Honest Flowers

My toes would have curled a few years ago if you had suggested I might find the much maligned chrysanthemum the inspiration for an image. I was thinking about how strange it is that flowers I once baulked at have begun to find favour once again. Poor old Chrysanthemum, mainstay of the garage forecourt, and yet. It is a simple honest bloom. Grown here in the UK too, and the colours can be really subtle. I love the way the nude tones in this tea cup are echoed by the little spray of flowers.

Flowers from the Farm is a brilliant initiative, a one stop shop that allows you to link up with British growers. I heartily encourage you to head over there if you are in need of beautiful home grown flowers for an event. The “Find Flowers” function is genius! Search by area, by bloom, by event or look for a farmer’s market, wholesale flowers, workshops it literally has all the bases covered, boom!

In general, chrysanthemums are believed to represent happiness, love, longevity and joy. Daisy-like with a typically yellow center and a decorative pom pom, now that I think about it there really is nothing to dislike! It is the ultimate symbol of happiness and health.

Sometimes a lot of the same bloom can work really well, its simple and honest and really rather lovely.
